Some people come to learn Reiki because they've  heard of its potential to heal - some students come to heal themselves, others are motivated by wanting to help loved ones in need of healing work.

Many of my students say they want to be able to relax, to learn a technique which will help them to unwind from their busy lifestyles.

Other students have come to develop themselves in a more spiritual direction in life. 

Some students have perhaps received a Reiki treatment and loved the feelings they were getting, or were impressed by the healing work that took place, or were curious in some way to learn more as a result of their initial experiences.

Sometimes I teach Reiki to students who are already therapists - reflexologists, massage therapists, beauty therapists, life coaches and so on. They have heard that Reiki can help them to feel less drained by their clients, and more energised, rather than depleted, as a result of being connected to the Reiki source.

Some have done other energy healing courses - I've taught quite a few students with experience in crystal healing and spiritual healing.

Some have experience in clairvoyance or mediumship, or are intrigued by the supernatural, and wish to use Reiki to help enhance their abilities.

I've taught a few students who are passionate about animals - once they are connected to Reiki they are then able to explore what Reiki can do for their dogs, cats, and other pets.

Many people have said that 'Reiki just found me' - often they explain that somehow Reiki kept coming up in conversations, was somehow being dangled in front of them until they became aware of it enough to take notice and book onto a Reiki course.

I've taught very few hardened skeptics. Which is a pity. I LOVE teaching Reiki to people who think nothing will happen, that it is a load of 'mumbo jumbo' (or something less polite!). The few times it has happened, it's been so much fun to watch the student's faces as looks of astonishment and awe sweep across them when they open their eyes after being ritually connected to the energy of Reiki. I know I can trust the energy to work for everybody who is connected to it... and I've always enjoyed a challenge.
